All divers in our program dive as part of the USA and AAU registered team Sun Devil Divers. (AAU - Amateur Athletic Union).

All divers must be a registered member of USA Diving and AAU. These are a secondary insurance coverage, which means that it only takes effect if your primary insurance runs out. The costs per year for USA Diving is $75.00 for Junior Olympic (Competitive), $25.00 for Future Champions (Athlete) and $14.00 for AAU.  Both insurances are due prior to starting practices.  USA Diving and AAU Insurances must be renewed every year.

Sun Devil Divers strives to implant in its athletes an understanding and appreciation of such concepts as high self esteem, personal accountability, self motivation, mental toughness, physical fitness, goal setting, respect for others, team spirit and loyalty. We believe that recognition of these concepts is as significant as the athletic achievement itself.

NOTE: Please contact Sun Devil Divers head coach Marc Briggs if you are interested in joining our team.

ELITE  - Coach: Marc Briggs

Our Elite members are an advanced group of divers who are training for National and Collegiate level. These divers have developed dives from all the groups (forward, backward, reverse, inward, and twisting) They have a Junior Olympic list of dives and are close to achieving a U.S. Senior/Open Diving list. At this stage divers are also encouraged to learn a platform list. Divers in Elite can vary in age but are typically 14 and older and have developed internally from our basic classes.  Elite divers travel to meets around the state and country.  Divers are expected to be at practice diligently, on time, and for the duration. Divers participate in dryland, trampoline, strength training, and gymnastic skills.  Elite members practice 5 times per week; 2 hours on 3 days (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday) and 1 ½ hours on Tuesday and Friday.  Elite divers also do weight training for 1 hour 2 days a week (Tuesday & Saturday). Parents of Elite members are expected to help out with meets and events.

It is at the coach’s discretion for divers to move to any level. Divers do not graduate to higher level groups based on the amount of time diving with the team. Divers will be invited to move up based on ability, attitude, mental toughness and over all potential to succeed at a high level of diving. There must be availability as well. Divers may be moved down a level at the discretion of the coach as well.
